Dentists at Black Swan Dental Surgery

Wendy Sandeman

Wendy Sandeman BDS

Wendy is a well established local dentist, who is particularly known for her gentle care.

She practised for many years in Crewkerne before moving to set up a new private practice in Drimpton in 2004.  The practice had a very strong reputation, winning a number of national awards.  In September 2009 Wendy and Steve decided to join forces in the new Black Swan premises in Market Street, and Wendy started work with her team there.  At Black Swan Wendy continues to offer the high quality gently dental care, for which she is renowned, supported by the Black Swan team.  She is committed to putting the patient at the centre of everything the practice does.

Wendy is a very experienced general dental surgeon who keeps her skills and knowledge up to date, and offers the latest types of cosmetic dental treatment as well as more general dentistry.  She is experienced in whitening and facial aesthetics including fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments.  She believes that there are always a number of different options with her patients.  She makes the time to listen to your needs and preferences and to advise you on how she can meet them.

Wendy works with the rest of the team to give you the treatment you want and need in a calm and relaxed environment.  They are concerned that you will not only get high quality treatment, but also feel cosseted and cared for from the moment you enter the practice to the moment you leave.

Away from work Wendy enjoys spending time with her husband on their canal boat in London.

Jeremy Lyle BDS

Jeremy Lyle BDS

Jeremy qualified from Birmingham University in 2003 and since then has developed a keen interest in modern dental techniques, especially composite fillings and implants.

He hopes in the near future to have completed a comprehensive training on dental implant placement and restoration.

He is highly motivated and committed to providing high quality, ethical dentistry and sees gentle patient care as paramount.

The team at Black Swan work closely with Jeremy to make your visit as calm and relaxing as possible.  Our philosophy is that with new modern techniques and equipment, dentistry should be a pleasant experience.

Jeremy always takes time to listen and understand his patients needs and requirements and gives the options available to meet those needs.  With his calm and kind manner adults and children alike find their appointments enjoyable.

Outside of dentistry Jeremy enjoys looking after and playing with his young son and has a keen interest in golf, hockey and badminton.

Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis BDS

As many people are aware Stephen had a serious polo riding accident back in January 2009 which left him in hospital for four months.  He is improving every day and is now back to dentistry doing checkups, X-rays and treatment planning.   The aim is for him to be back to full dentistry this year.

Qualified from University College Hospital, London in 1978. He then worked in general practice in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire for several years before starting his own practice in Buckinghamshire.

This rapidly grew into a three man practice, allowing him to concentrate on cosmetic dentistry, particularly for film and TV. He and his family moved to Dorset for a change in quality of life in 1988 and he then resurrected a practice in Somerset in 1989. Here he practised as a team leader with carefully selected staff, including dedicated technicians, hygienists and developed an implant referral base.

The end of the 1990’s saw him starting The Minster Dental Health Centre, Beaminster as a centre for dental excellence. The centre ran courses for teaching Dentists and their nurses, and welcomed referrals to its in house specialists. Although carrying out general dentistry he has a particular interest in Implantology and advanced restorative techniques – pretty smiles with no embarrassment.

For 9 years he was one of the visiting consultants to the Nuffield Implant Centre, Nuffield Hospital, Bournemouth dealing with reconstructions following birth defects, trauma cases and dental disease. He is married with three children and has two grandchildren. He lists horses, falconry and hot air ballooning as vices. He also plays polo as his major sport. Evenings and weekends find him in wellies tending a flock of poll Dorset sheep, Dexter cattle, pigs and hens on the family farm.

Additionally educated over the last 15 years in techniques. With advanced cosmetic and Implantology courses in Italy, Sweden, Germany, Jersey and the UK. He has also spent time with staff from the Universities of Berlin, Gothenburg, Strasburg and Milan, with a selection of professors seeing patients and bringing this help to his patients here in the West Country.

He then started ‘Black Swan’ practice in 2008 following direct requests from many patients. He is determined that it is a practice where everyone is
equally important, the vision and development led only by the patients - the third type of practice in the UK - new & unique.
